OpenAI introduces GPT-4, a more powerful version of ChatGPT

GPT-4 is the latest and most advanced version of ChatGPT, a popular artificial intelligence chatbot that millions of people have used to generate texts such as songs, poems, marketing copy, computer code and homework help.

What makes GPT-4 different from ChatGPT is that it can not only handle text inputs and outputs but also images. This means that GPT-4 can understand and generate visual content such as captions, descriptions and suggestions based on pictures. For instance, if you show GPT-4 a photo of some ingredients in your kitchen, it can suggest a recipe for you to cook. Or if you show it a photo of a landscape or a person, it can write a story or a biography about it.

Another difference between GPT-4 and ChatGPT is that GPT-4 can process much longer texts than ChatGPT. While ChatGPT could only handle up to 3,000 words at a time, GPT-4 can process up to 25,000 words at once. This allows GPT-4 to perform more complex tasks and reasoning than ChatGPT. In fact, GPT-4 has shown human-level performance on various professional and academic exams such as law school admission tests (LSATs), bar exams and advanced placement (AP) exams in subjects like physics and calculus.

To ensure the reliability and safety of GPT-4, OpenAI, the chatbot’s creator, has trained it on human feedback and implemented safety features to reduce the risk of disinformation and hallucination. Disinformation refers to false or misleading information that is intentionally spread to influence people’s beliefs or actions. Hallucination refers to when AI invents facts or makes reasoning errors that are not based on reality. OpenAI has spent six months on aligning GPT-4 with its values and goals using lessons from its adversarial testing program as well as ChatGPT.

GPT-4 is currently available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers who pay $20 per month for premium access to the service. It also powers Microsoft’s Bing search engine platform which uses GPT-4’s natural language understanding capabilities to provide better search results for users.
